6. A design before a price
A serious company studies your drawings or visits the site and lists what goes in each room before it quotes. A price given over the phone for "a 4BHK" is a guess, and you pay for the guess later in variations.
7. An itemised quote you can compare
Every line should name the make, model and quantity, with installation and programming shown separately. Without that you cannot compare two quotes, or check later that what was installed is what you paid for.
8. Programming done by their own team
Ask who writes the scenes, schedules and app set-up, and whether that person will still be reachable in three years. Programming handed to a freelancer is the most common reason a system stops being looked after.
9. Service people in your city
Ask how a fault is reported, who comes, and how soon. A company with engineers in Ahmedabad can attend a site; one that only ships boxes cannot.
10. A proper handover
You should get drawings, the device list, a copy of the programming files and training for the family. If the company ever closes, those files are what let another integrator take the system over.
